damn advertising!!!

Entry 4

Today i'd like to talk about something relatable to anybody who uses YouTube or other video based sites frequently and that is video adverts.  Many a time i will sit down and prepare to watch a good video or online TV show only to be thwarted and forced to pause in order to mute this unpausable ad then wait for the next one which usually can be paused...too little too late in my opinion.  The worst of it is the adverts don't go away when you go full screen on your video.  This means that even if you do you will get two or three minutes in and have to stop your video in order to deal with this god damn thorn on the top right hand side.  Personally i think i'd be able to deal with it if the video's weren't so bloody boring and repetitive.  Recently it has been either finish dish washer powder or that horrible Ariel advert where the teacher asks what color a ball is, to a eerie reply of a studio recorded class of children which just doesn't seem to fit the ad.  But the chances are these will have changed within the next few days to another bloody video ad.

Another thing is that they're now invading non video sharing websites such as twitter and Facebook.  This annoys me mainly because when i'm on one of these websites my page is very long with other peoples tweets or posts and the adverts are evenly spread throughout usually about 4 or 5.  This means that I have to scroll through the entire page finding them and muting then pausing them all individually and its this same process every time i log on.

The worst thing of all about these adverts though is that they are on a place which used to be ad free and has become progressively worse rather than better.  It used to be easy to just jump onto the computer or laptop and start Facebooking or twittering without fear of an advert every 2 minutes being there to ruin your day.  In my opinion that's why Facebook and twitter became as important to so many as TV was and to some extent still is.

Finally i take issue with these ads because they are pretty much completely pointless nobody takes them seriously and there is no way they could be effective in selling product.  I have yet to meet a person who thinks to themselves "hmm i need some new dishwasher tablets these just aren't cutting it...i know i'll go on Facebook that'll solve my problem"...it just doesn't happen.

Well that's it for another day but as promised i will leave you with a joke

what do you call a fish with no eyes.... a fsh

thanks for reading
goodnight.
